Pilates
Pilates or Physical Mind method, is a series of nonimpact exercises designed to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and inner awareness. Pilates is a form of strength and flexibility training that can be done by anyone atany level of
fitness. It is an engaging exercise program that promotes a feeling of physical and mental well being and also
develops inner physical awareness. Pilates strengthens and lengthens the muscles without creating bulk. Pilates is also helpful in preventing and rehabilitating from injuries, improving posture, and increasing flexibility,
circulation, and balance.
“Pilates actually gets harder as you get better at it. You’ll go really, really deep into the abs, and when you hit
that sweet spot, you’ll feel it. Sometimes for many days!”
Kathy’s Pilates classes use a variety of exercises to work the upper and lower abdominals, the waistline and the obliques, the upper and lower back as well as work for the hips, and inner and outer thigh. Special attention is paid to breath and working with a neutral spine.
